Every engine relies on a thermostat to regulate coolant flow and maintain the correct operating temperature. When a standard thermostat fails – and fails closed – coolant stops circulating. The engine overheats. In minutes, the damage can run into thousands of euros: a warped cylinder head, a blown head gasket, or a seized engine block.
This is the risk that every workshop, distributor, and fleet operator carries with every standard thermostat on the market.

FAIL-SAFE®: Protection When It Matters Most
MotoRad Fail-Safe® thermostats are based on premium, patented technology developed to address the most dangerous thermostat failure mode: getting stuck in the closed position during an overheating event.
Here is how it works:
When the cooling system overheats, or the thermostat is over-stroked, the Fail-Safe® spring mechanism automatically locks the valve into a wide-open position. This allows maximum flow of radiator-cooled coolant through the engine –preventing catastrophic overheating damage even when the primary cooling system is already compromised.
Once triggered, the Fail-Safe® thermostat cannot return to normal operation. This is intentional: it is a clear, unmistakable signal to the technician that the cooling system requires inspection and the thermostat must be replaced. There is no ambiguity, no hidden failure, no risk of a second event.

UltraStat®: Built Beyond Standard
Where Fail-Safe® protects against failure, UltraStat® addresses everyday wear and performance degradation. MotoRad UltraStat® thermostats are engineered to go beyond original equipment – delivering improved durability, precision, and driver comfort throughout the product’s service life.
